One year Celebration banquet- CCI

It has been one year that I have been doing this cooking school and I have loved (mostly) every minute of it! I have some of the coolest kids that come to my kitchen a cook some amazing things!
(This is Owen- He just graduated from our pre-school program!)
(These are some of our male chefs. Its funny how the field is so male dominated, but my classes are not.)
At our celebration banquet the kids all recieved blue ribbons for their growth in the culinary field!
This is a group of kids who made it to the banquet and brought a home made dish.
This is the dish Paige made!

Seth's first church dance

Tori was more excited for Seths first dance than he was. She was telling him how to ask girls to dance and how to accept invitations."make sure you brush your teeth and put on some deoderant" was also part of the advise. She helped him pick out his clothes and gel his hair. He was handsome!

When I picked them up from the dance Seth had a cookie in one hand and a cup of punch in the other. He reported dancing only 2 times and only asking a girl once. So I guess there is room for improvment, but I am sure Tori is on top of that!
(why they wanted to pose like this I shall never know, but those are my kids!)

I had been back from Europe for barley 24 hours when Logan set in on her plans for moving out. I was mostly assleep on the couch when we together (yes I was mostly asleep) ordered a Uhaul to take her stuff to school. I knew with her moped there was no way it would all get in the mini van seats or not, so i was on board with that. However the giant truck we ended up with was because the cargo van was more expensive and they were all out of the middle choice so.......
Heres us with 1/4 of a Uhaul full on our way (3 hrs) to Thatcher AZ.
Logan is living in a 2 bed room house with three other girs and . They have thier stamp all over the house. All the way from the posters and art work to the skate board shelving and black board refrigerator. Tori said it looked like "Pintrest" threw up in there!

The house is a bit beat up as is most of the town. Particularly around the school. Its realy close to the school and rent is cheep. She has a washer and dryer so no quaters or hauling laundry around.

There is a pet....
In this town all the houses have names. This house is called "Shrubbery" you cant see most of the house because there is a big bush covering most of it.

This is Logans little corner of the house. I am sure after a while she will spread and get her name on something but for now shes the new girl. She is enjoying though. For a girl who has lived all over the world a tiny town is as different as any culture she has experienced before.

You can read about her expereinces from her own finger tips at her blog "I go to College"

He knows me

In Mia maids class a few weeks ago we had a lesson on baring our testimony, part of the lesson talked about what a gift it is to have a confirmation of unseen things being true. When we receive this gift we are "....required to share it." - Pres. Kimball

I don't think in the three years I have been managing this blog have I taken the time to share my testimony on here. So here goes...

I have a testimony of many things, of the truthfulness of the Gospel, of a living prophet, of a young prophet years ago translating The Book of Mormon. I have a testimony of  repentance, tithing and the blessings that come from serving others and so many more wonderful things, but recently the testimony that has strengthened me and seemed the most pertinent in my life is that of the knowledge I have of a living Savior.
I know that Christ lives, I know because I have seen his hand in my life. I know My Father in Heaven knows and loves me and my family. As I pray I feel his comforting arms and I know he knows the desires of my heart. He listens to me and I see the evidences of it in my life.
I have been at the depths of despair and felt Him lift me, I have asked questions that showed doubt and a wavering faith and he spoke louder. Loud enough for it to be undeniable. I have asked for forgiveness of horrible errors ; and when I had shown true repentance I could feel his spirit return to my life. My abilities doubled, my happiness increased, my family was blessed.
I couldn't be more grateful for this knowledge and these blessings and to have this gift.
I pray these words touch your heart and renew and strengthen your testimony in our Father in Heaven and in his Son Jesus Christ.
I say these things in the name of our beloved Savior and Redeemer- Jesus Christ- Amen

rolling into 40

I recieved a note on my front door a few days before my birthday and was wisked away on a surprise girls night out to a favorite resteraunt and treated to some wonderful gifts and great friends saying wonderful things about me! Then I had a wonderful party at the skating rink with the youth from church and a bunch of good friends! Then I ran off to Europe for 8 days with some more great friends. Yet, some how these are the only pictures I found from all of that.
It was so good no one has any proof. Maybe that means it didnt happen, and Im not actualy 40!

Eating on the couch

Some 10 years ago I made a rule. No eating on the couch if you were under 18. I think it was just so that the kids wouldnt make a mess. Not because I believed any of them would actualy reach 18 and eat on the couch. Yet some how against all odds....she did it. She turned 18. I guess I have to let her eat on the couch.

 Grasshopper cake!

What bizarre gifts.....unless you have a.......

 Moped!
Oh and she got pretty shoes.
Happy 18th Logan!
