We've always said you can learn as much from the bad examples around you as you can with good examples. Naples Middle High School was a lot of fighting for whats right and learning from bad examples. It was a tough few years where I found myself in the middle of more advocating for kids situations than I have ever had to do . This story was a lesson for Paige and I in standing up for what you know is right.
Paige was turned down for her entry into the NHS when her GPA was a 4.0 and she had a fair amount of community service to include being a member of a community service club. She worked on her application essays for months having them reviewed by tutors and parents and older siblings. The "Not accepted letter" was pretty generic and completely not accurate for Paige. As NHS works, the induction happens very quickly after the acceptance (or non - for that matter) Can't change the decision before its already said and done. Hence what happened to her application in 2017. This time we went straight into the admin and pointed out the issues. They agreed to do an investigation, which then went to the district admin, and there were a few applications including Paige's over turned.
It was hard and a lot of pressure on Paige to feel a bit like she should give up.
A few kids that missed the ceremony and those that got over turned were rewarded
a private ceremony. Paige will be a member of a great academic club, She will add it to her college applications and learned that when you know you have earned something, you need to fight for it!
